First English/Arabic Project Management Web Site Launched

DOHA: Ambitious Qatar National Project Management program took another major step forward today with the launch of the region’s first bi-lingual project management web site.

The launch ceremony attended by the Director of the Qatar National Project Management (QNPM), Mr. Saleh Al Humaidi, and senior officials at the Planning Council.

Following the launch, the Deputy Chairman of the Technical Coordination Committee at the Planning Council, Sheikh Nasser bin Mohammed Al Thani told reporters that the web site is the first of its kind in the region.

According to Sheikh Nasser bin Mohammed Al Thani, the website provides access to an evolving set of resources for project management in English and Arabic languages. These include a project life cycle, a series of templates and job aids that support project management activities and a software tool that helps automate tasks and enable online collaboration among project members.

“The Public Service is leading the way in Qatar’s growth; improving our infrastructure, modernizing services and focusing on delivery”, Sheikh Nasser said.

He added that the QNPM initiative is supporting that leadership role with powerful project management resources that help teams organize to deliver.

A senior official at the QNPM said that project management has been proven around the world to be the best way to achieve project outcomes efficiently and effectively. The QNPM framework specially tailors global project management best practices to Qatar’s unique environment. It is learnt from the web site.

The QNPM Director, Mr. Saleh Al Humaidi, said the project management proven to be an invaluable tool in achieving project success. “The launch of the website today will make these excellent resources more widely available and help expand the community of project management professionals in Qatar and throughout the region”. Saleh Al Humaidi remarked.
