Qatar National Project Management
Program-1
The Qatar National Project Management Program was
introduced as one of the early initiatives of State of
Qatar Public Services Development Project (www.pmonline.gov.qa).
The program is composed of two main projects:
1 – Project Management Capacity Building Project:
This project is intended to build and enhance project
management capacity across the Government of Qatar.
This will be achieved by improving Project Management
Skills across the Government of Qatar through structured
training and knowledge transfer workshops. These
programs will be aligned with Project Management
Institute and other international Project Management
Standards, yet Arabized and localized to enhance
understanding.
The QNPM team worked with Project Management Training
experts to design, customize and localize Project
Management curriculums for Government of Qatar
employees. These sessions are planned to be rolled out
by fall of 2005.
The Project Management Capacity Building project will
also provide Ministries and Agencies with specialized
Project Management services on an as-needed basis.
2 – Qatar National Project Management (QNPM)
Enterprise Tool:
QNPM Tool is an Enterprise Program Management
Solution which provides functionality that supports
program and project management , including but not
limited to collaborative work venues, issue and risk
management, scheduling, resource and task management,
and financial management. The tool covers the complete
project life cycle from project definition, through
planning, implementation and finally closure.
This tool is provided as a Government-Wide accessible
Project Management tool to be part of an intelligent i-government
culture which will provide leadership with modern tools
toward a technologically advanced government to maintain
and improve public services.
The QNPM tool:
- Enables virtual teamwork 24 by 7
- Promotes team and inter-project collaboration
- Delivers immediate results through improved
knowledge sharing and alerts
- Supports effective Issues & Risks Management
- Provides an efficient, one-stop workspace to
meet Program Management needs
- Provides real-time access to project information
and status
- Uses login and firewall restrictions to prevent
unauthorized access
- Provides a user-friendly interface for quick
team adoption
